Beauty | 5 Ways To Prep Your Hair For Cold Weather!

Hi, lovely friends!

Winter is coming and I wanted to share some of my favorite cold weather hair tips with you guys. Summer heat and chlorine are hard on your hair, but winter brings a new set of challenges! This year, I've been trying to be more natural and organic as I can be for the health of my hair and body. Little by little, I've been trying to move over to the organic side with the products that I use & I want to try even harder in 2018! So, most of these tips suggest organic tips or products. I hope you enjoy them!

5 Ways To Prep Your Hair For Cold Weather:
1. Switch to a tea tree oil shampoo
Natural tea tree oil moisturizes your locks and can soothe irritated scalp skin. There are many therapeutic and restorative benefits to natural tea tree oil. It can improve overall hair and scalp health, promote hair growth, slow hair loss, and treat wounds. I've been using the Maple Holistics Natural Tea Tree Oil Shampoo in preparation for winter temperatures. The shampoo is suitable for men, women, and children and the best part is that the formula is cruelty-free, parabens-free, GMO-free, and gluten free!

Scalp skin is drier and itchier during winter months because of a lack of moisture in the air and that can lead to dandruff and scalp irritation which can lead to fall out and no one wants that! A tea tree oil shampoo puts more moisture back into the scalp and your locks.
My 3 favorite things so far about the shampoo:
1. I tend to have greasy hair. My hair is thin but it really collects oil (lovely, I know) I've washed my hair less while using this shampoo, because it takes longer for my hair to look greasy!

2. It's made my hair super soft!

3. It has a nice, relaxing, spa-like scent that I really enjoy for night-time baths.

I wanted to tell you guys about their free samples program! Maple Holistics has an awesome free samples program that gives you the opportunity to try out products for free, all while learning about their natural, cruelty-free company.
2. Combat static
Dryness in the air and wearing hats can cause static in your hair. Consider using a leave-in conditioner during winter months to lock in moisture and keep your hair in place.
3. Don't leave the house with wet hair
Take extra time to blow-dry your hair or let it dry naturally before you go outside. In cold weather, it takes longer for your hair to dry. If your hair freezes, you risk breakage!
4. Fight off limp hat hair by adding volume
My hair always falls limp, especially when I have hat hair! You can add some volume with dry shampoo, texturizing spray, volumizing or thickening formulas, and/or a root lifter. I use a texturizing dry shampoo and tease my roots a little bit extra to give my winter hair some more volume.
5. Use natural oils to make dull hair shinier
Winter cold can make hair dull and less shiny than in other seasons. Organic jasmine oil is a natural way to make your hair shinier and smoother. You can mix a few drops (about 6) into 1 tbsp of conditioner for silkier locks. You can also add a little bit to the ends of dry hair for a nice shine.  Rose essential oil is also a great oil to choose. It strengthens hair roots and helps prevent hair loss. It's also one of my favorite scents, so it's a go-to for me!
Do you have any winter hair tips?!
