Fashion For Good | Fashion Revolution Week 2019

Columbus, OH, USA
Hi, guys!

Did you know it's Fashion Revolution Week?
Do you even know what Fashion Revolution Week is?

Fashion Revolution Week is a week where we all can come together and campaign for a different fashion industry. It runs from April 22nd to April 28th. Be sure to check out FashionRevolution.org for all of the details and to find even more ways that you can get involved!
Fashion Revolution week is for all of us fashion revolutionaries out there who want to see the environment conserved and restored & who want to give people everywhere a voice.

Want to be a part of the revolution?

One thing you can do to start is ask the question "Who made my clothes?"
Take a picture of your clothing label and post it online! Be sure to ask the brand and use the hashtag
#whomademyclothes?

We need more transparency in the fashion industry. In one of my favorite classes in college, we talked so much about supply chain transparency and the true importance of it. We need brands to change their transparency. We can't stop until modern slavery and child labor is eradicated.

Here is my photo on Instagram, if you want to see it!
Another thing that you can do is take a moment to really appreciate the items in your closet that you love.

"The most sustainable garment is the one already in your wardrobe."

- Orsola De Castro

An Instagram post from the fash_rev Instagram page says:

"But the truth is, our ability to enact change is not only in what we buy, but in the way we value the clothing we already own. We must remember that #lovedclotheslast "

We can make an impact just by loving our clothes and extending their life a little longer. This concept is important to keep in mind when we're shopping so that we only buy clothes that we love, so that they'll last!

Do you have an item that is loved and treasured and has lived a long life?
Share your love story with me!
Another thing you can do is a "haulternative". A haulternative is an alternative to the traditional fashion haul. Instead of going shopping and posting what you bought, you can show a new way of refreshing your wardrobe without buying anything new!

I'm going to have a haulternative blog post coming very soon so stay tuned!

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.

Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

- Margaret Mead
